Incredible stuff! What guts! How can we ever thank all those men and women in the RAF, RCAF and USAF who climbed into those amazing Lancasters, Liberators, and God knows what, to fly into peril over Nazi Germany? As a child, I grew up in the north end of Montreal, and remember vividly the Harvard trainers droning overhead daily. Little did I realize then, how great the war effort really was. Looking forward to Dambusters 2!
Not forgetting the RNZAF and RAAF – and that the only American on the Dams Raid, Joe McCarthy, was RCAF, which he joined after the US Army Air Corps said they’d be in touch 3 times, then never contacted him about his application!
Also, the USAF was only formed in 1947!
